The student will be removed from his or her course if full payment is not received by the specified payment deadline for his or her current grade level.

Application Information

1. Determine Your Eligibility

Go to the menu bar and click on Academic Criteria. Review the chart containing the Qualifying Scores to determine if the student is eligible to apply to ADVANCE based on ACT, Aspire, Explore, Plan, SAT, or PSAT scores. If the student does not have a score for one of those tests, or if the applicant's scores do no meet the academic criteria for ADVANCE, the applicant must apply through the Alternate Admissions Policy. To learn about Alternate Admissions, click on Academic Criteria in the menu box and scroll beneath the chart.

Several courses have prerequisites. Be certain that the student has taken the prerequisite/s in school or at a previous ADVANCE session.

2. Make Your Course Selection/s

On the application, the student is asked to rank his or her course choices with #1 being the student's first choice. Do not rank a course that the student is not willing to take; we will not refund the course deposit if the student declines any course ranked on his or her application. The student is enrolled in one course for the entire three-week session. Every attempt will be made to place the student in his or her most preferred course.

3. Submit Application

There are two ways to submit the application and pay the registration fee:

Option 1: Complete the online application and pay the $350 registration fee online.

    b. Complete the online application (red asterisks indicate required fields).

 

    c. Place a checkmark in the authorization box of the application.

 

    d. Pay the $350 registration fee online by credit card before clicking the "submit" button. 

 

Option 2: Print, complete, and mail the application with the $350 registration fee.

 

    a. Click this link:  PRINT APPLICATION

 

    b. The application must be signed by the applicant's parent or guardian.

 

    c. All applicants must submit a form of payment for the $350 registration fee. If paying by personal check, money order, or cashier's check, make it payable to NSU's ADVANCE Program. Other forms of payment accepted by Northwestern State include: American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa (including check cards). If you choose to pay the registration fee by credit card, print and complete the PAYMENT FORM  and mail it with the application.

 

4. *Required Documents for all Applicants

 

All applicants must submit the following before they will be accepted to the program or placed in a class:

 

    *a.  A copy of the applicant's most recent report card.

 

    *b.  A copy of the applicant's ACT, Aspire, Explore, Plan, SAT, or PSAT test scores OR required documents if applying through our Alternate Admissions Policy. 

 

5.  Submit the required documents and application by one of these methods:

         

       a. Scan, attach, and email the documents to palmerh@nsula.edu

6. Notification from ADVANCE

 

Applications are reviewed and processed as they are received. Admission decisions are made within ten days of receipt of the student's application, registration fee, and required documents.

 

If accepted, the student will receive an acceptance packet containing a course syllabus, information regarding payment of the balance, and several forms to complete and return to ADVANCE. If we do not have an opening in any course that the student ranked, the student will be placed on a waiting list. If a space becomes available in any of the courses that the student ranked, the ADVANCE office will contact the student immediately to inform them of their course placement. Apply early to avoid the waiting list!

 

An email will be sent to the student and his or her parent or guardian containing a link to the Student Handbook. A printed copy of the Student Handbook will not be mailed unless requested by the student or his or her parent or gaurdian.
